學習英文的途徑~~collocations(詞語搭配)

COLLOCATION is the way in which particular words tend to occur or belong together.

collocation是指比較典型或規範的詞語組合。

對於中高級的進階學習者而言，要流利而正確地說、寫英文，就必須學會「連字／組合字／搭配詞語」（collocation），能讓說／寫能力大幅提昇到另一層級；除此之外，「連字」在IELTS等各種語言測驗中也常常成為考題。



比如，可以說：

Meals will be served outside on the terrace, weather permitting.

(天氣許可的話，可在餐館露天座用餐。)

但不能說：

Meals will be served outside on the terrace, weather allowing.



上述兩句含義似乎相同。allow 和permit 意思非常相似，但在這一組合况只有permitting 才是正確的。它可與weather 搭配，allowing 卻不能。
